When Katy Swartz moves to "West, by God Virginia" she quickly hates/loves/can't-stand/lusts-over/loathes/body-worships her sexy new neighbor, Daemon Black.
Daemon saves her from a stranger. By freezing time. With his hand. Because he's an alien. Like, from outer space. In doing so, he basically put a bull's eye all over her, making her a beacon for other aliens seeking to steal Lux power. She has to deal with his self-imposed heroism and his attitude.
There is more to Daemon than infuriating comments and green, green eyes, but he doesn't want anyone to know it. Especially not Katy. In his experience, human girls are trouble in the Black family, and he refuses to repeat his brother's mistakes.
Until he realizes his love for Katy is too strong.
Their love story starts out rocky, but eventually turns into a relationship worthy of dumping her book-boyfriends for.
We know they're meant to be together, but they don't. It's obvious from the start that Daemon and Katy are perfect for each other, but their strong personalities get in their own way. But the wait is worth the pay off.
Katy gets to be just as bad-ass as her man. I don't want to give too much away, but Katy is no damsel in distress.
He says the right things.
“I've always found that the most beautiful people, truly beautiful inside and out, are the ones who are quietly unaware of their effect." His eyes searched mine intently, and for a moment we stood there toe to toe. "The ones who throw their beauty around, waste what they have? Their beauty is only passing. It's just a shell hiding nothing but shadows and emptiness.” ― Jennifer L. Armentrout, Obsidian
Narrator: Okay, so I gave Justine Eyre three stars, and its not due to poor performance. She has a different voice very each character, she puts inflection and tone in all the right places. It simply comes down to her voice. It's not my cup of tea. That being said, once I got used to her breathy whines I was able to ignore it and follow the story perfectly. Justine narrates a lot of Jennifer's books and so for Jennifer's sake, I put up with Justine.

Let's take a moment and discuss my author-crush. Anyone reading these will soon learn that I have an author-crush on Jennifer L. Armentrout. I'd read a text book if she wrote it. That being said, trust that The Lux Series, or anything else she's written, is great!
